Business improvement consultancy for growing Edinburgh service businesses

Practical, face-to-face support for growing service businesses

I work with founder led and growing service businesses across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, helping owners understand what’s actually happening before deciding what to change.

I bring an independent pair of eyes into the business. Looking across customers, data, systems, processes and people to help you connect the dots, clarify what deserves attention and make more informed decisions about what comes next.

When I can help

You might know something needs to change, but not yet be clear on the right answer.

This probably looks like:

  • customers dropping off or behaving differently

  • systems or processes creating more work than they should

  • the team getting stuck in recurring problems

  • too much information, but not enough useful insight

  • growth making the business feel more complicated than it used to

  • considering a new hire, CRM, marketing spend or process change in the hope this will make running the business feel easier

The visible problem isn’t always the problem you need to solve.

Why work face-to-face?

Some business problems are easier to understand when I can see the environment they’re happening in.

Working face-to-face gives me the opportunity to:

  • observe how work actually happens, not just how it is described

  • speak with the people closest to the issue

  • spot hand-offs, workarounds and friction that might otherwise be missed

  • run practical workshops with owners and teams

  • map journeys, processes or pain points together in the room

  • test assumptions quickly and build a shared understanding of the problem

For some projects, that may mean spending time in your business, observing what is happening day to day and then bringing people together to make sense of what we’ve learned.

How we will work together

Getting clear on the question
What feels wrong, what has changed, and what are you considering doing about it?

Looking at the evidence
Customer feedback, business data, current systems, existing processes and team perspectives.

Face-to-face discovery
On-site observation, conversations with your team or a focused workshop to understand what is happening beneath the surface.

Connecting the dots
Bringing different information and perspectives together to identify patterns, gaps and likely causes.

Agreeing what deserves attention next
Clear priorities, practical next steps and, where needed, small tests before making a bigger investment.

The aim is not to create more information.

It is to give you greater clarity about what to do with the information you already have.

What a workshop might look like

I can facilitate focused workshops to help you:

  • map the current customer journey

  • understand where customers or staff are experiencing friction

  • compare what different people think is causing the issue

  • identify assumptions versus evidence

  • map how a process actually works

  • prioritise what needs further investigation

  • turn insight into practical next steps

This works particularly well when different people are seeing different parts of the same problem.

A face-to-face session can be useful when the business already has plenty of knowledge, but it is sitting across different people or parts of the business.

“It was lovely to have that outside, unbiased person to give us inputs on how to grow the business but again how to keep our levels of service high.”
